Sth Norfolk League Plate Quarter Final
Brandon Lads under 11's
progressed through to the semi finals of the cup this
weekend with a 7 - 2 win over Attleborough, for the
second week running Brandon looked to play football and
with the impressive Underwood and Mayes playing in the
middle of midfield Brandon took control of the game
after 15 minutes when Webber finished coolly after out
pacing the Attleborough defence, the second followed
when Hayhoe finished from close range and a well worked
free kick saw Welham finish from distance and Underwood
grabbed a goal just before half time but a defensive
lapse saw Attleborough score on half time.
The second half saw
Brandon dominate and should have scored more with
Underwood going close and Webber hitting the bar
after a good move, Jagroop then added a sixth before
Attleborough pulled one goal back but Underwood
grabbed his second and third goals to complete a
well deserved hat trick his second in 2 weeks.
A excellent team display
with all players giving their all, with Underwood,
Webber, Mayes, Diago and Welham outstanding.

Brandon Lads 6 Harling 2
Brandon under 11's
entertained East Harling in at home this weekend and for
the first time in a while had nearly a full squad,
Brandon started very well with Underwood in midfield
pulling the strings and Hayhoe causing problems on the
right and it was from a good through ball from Hayhoe that Webber
opened the scoring quickly followed by Hayhoe scoring
off the cross bar, Brandon were cruising by now and
should have put the game out of sight but allow Harling
into the game with 2 quick goals before the impressive
Underwood scored before half time.
The second half saw
Brandon dominate from start to finish with Gristock
in goal having very little to do but when required
was as usual excellent, Jagroop came on upfront and
quickly grabbed a goal before Underwood firstly
scored with a fine header and to complete his hat
trick with a solo run and pin point finish, again
Brandon should have had move but the Harling keeper
made some good saves and late on Stevenson cleared
off the line to deny Harling scoring further.
A much improved
performance with the right attitude. Final Score
Brandon 6 East Harling 2 MOM Callum Webber but
closely run by Hat Trick Hero Casey Underwood.

Brandon were at home again this week
to Bulldogs and played their worst football of the
season, Brandon started badly going 2 goals down very
early with some poor defending and lack of effort all
over the pitch, this gave Bulldogs confidence and
Brandon never recovered and got into the game apart from
an excellent Hayhoe free kick in the first half but
Bulldogs deservedly added a third.
The second half saw much of the
same with Diago, Gristock and Mayes the only players
trying to get Brandon back into the game, but it was
Bulldogs who scored again with Hayhoe scoring from
the spot at the other end and the Bulldogs keeper
making some fine saves to keep out Mofatt, Jagroop,
Mayes and Welham, with Brandon pushing this allowed
Bulldogs to take advantage and add 3 further goals
to seal a very disappointing game for Brandon who
never turned up for this game.
With 6 games left all Brandon
players need to change their attitudes and show some
determination if they want to play football after
what was the worst game Brandon have played this
season.
Final Score Brandon 2 Bulldogs 7
MOM Alex Gristock but well played Diago.
Sunday 25th
February 2007 Brandon Lads 5 Wymondham 3
Brandon Under 11’s played
Wymondham at home this week after 4 weeks with no
game, Brandon started well and should have been
ahead within the first few minutes but failed to
take the chances but did eventually take the lead
through a fine solo effort from Casey Underwood and
five minutes later went further ahead from a Jack
Hayhoe free kick, Hayhoe and Mofatt down both wings
were causing Wymondham problems and should have
increased the lead but again the finishing let them
down. This allowed Wymondham deservedly back into
the game with 2 good finishes only for Liam Mofatt
to score from another excellent Hayhoe corner only
to allow Wymondham to score just before half time.
The second half was much improved
and it took Webber no time to put Brandon back into
the lead but Brandon still needed some strong
defending from Welham, Stevenson, Hodson and
Buonocore with Gristock making some key saves and
last ditch challenges to keep the lead, midway
through the half Underwood grabbed his second of the
game to ensure Brandon took the points.
A better second half but with
good displays from Hayhoe , Diago and Gristock.

Brandon under 11's played
their first game of 2007 away to Thetford Independents
and in the first 10 minutes it looked as if both sides
were still on their Xmas break with no football played,
it was Brandon who had the early chances with Hayhoe and
Webber going close but it was Jagroop who gave Brandon
the lead with a low drive from the edge of the area
which prompted Brandon into life with Hayhoe causing
problems down the right and Jagroop winning the midfield
battle and just before half time Jagroop won the ball in
his own half and sent a long ball to Webber whose pace
beat the Thetford defence and finished coolly.
The second half Brandon
lost Welham and changed the formation which allowed
Thetford back into the game from the kick off with a
soft goal, Thetford scored to level the game and
then took the lead from a excellent free kick, with
the introduction of Welham, Brandon pushed for the
equaliser and it was through Jagroops hard work he
scored his deserved second of the game, Stevenson,
Hodson, Buonacore and Welham held strong in defence
to get what looked like a draw until Jagroop was
brought down for a penalty which Hayhoe scored from
to give Brandon the win.
A close game which both
teams played very well, final score Thetford Indies

Sunday 17th December
2006 Harling 1 Brandon Lads 2
Brandon played their last league game of 2006 away at East
Harling and in the opening 10 minutes should have been 2
or 3 goals in front with the Harling keeper making a
couple of good saves, as the first half went on Brandon
played some excellent passing football with Hayhoe,
Webber and Jagroop involved in Brandon’s attacking play
but it was Underwood who created the opening for Liam
Moffat to coolly run on and lob the oncoming keeper.
Brandon defended well with Welham, Hodson, Stevenson and
Buonacore all playing their part and Gristock making a
couple of important saves. The second half saw both sides
evenly matched with chances at both ends but no goals
until Brandon won a corner which Harling cleared only to
find Jack Hodson who lobbed the keeper from distance for
his first goal for Brandon, Hayhoe then went off injured
leaving Brandon with 10 men and although Harling fought
back Gristock and Stevenson were solid until a poor
clearance allow Harling to score but it was not enough
to take the points and Brandon got their deserved win.

Brandon Lads 5 Attleborough 1
Brandon under 11's this week
entertained Attleborough and it was the visitors who
started the stronger and for the first 20 minutes
Brandon could not get the ball, Stevenson, Welham,
Hodson and Buonocore defended well to keep the scores
level and coming to half time Brandon started to find
their way in the game with the impressive Jagroop. Mayes
and Hayhoe causing Attleborough lots of problems with
Webber and Moffatt going close.
The second half Brandon
dominated from start to finish, Hayhoe showed the
form we all know he has and every time he got the
ball delivered pin point crosses one from which
Brandon earned a penalty which Underwood failed to
convert but to his credit scored a few minutes later
with a cool finish, Hayhoe hit the bar from a free
kick and the Jagroop scored from distance to make
it 2-0, Mayes got his deserved and first goal for
Brandon after another energetic performance Jagroop
then found Hayhoe who rounded the keeper to scored
after a fine solo run with Jagroop finishing the
scoring with another fine effort from distance,
Underwood, Webber, Moffatt and Jagroop all had
further chances but the Attleborough keeper was in
good form to keep the score down, with seconds to go
Brandon switched off and allow Attlebourgh to score.
Final Score Brandon 5
Attleborough 1 - with every player deserving a
mention for this performance it was hard to choose a
MOM but with Hayhoe in such good form it goes to

2006 Brandon Lads 4 Toftwood 3
Brandon under 11's were this
week at home to Toftwood in the league. Due to late call
offs Brandon again had only 11 players with goal keeper
Gristock again having to play in midfield. Brandon did
not look interested in the first half quickly going 2
goals down until Jagroop scored a stunning long range
free kick just before half time. The second half sore a
different Brandon side looking to play football and take
control of the game with Mayes and Gristock winning the
midfield battles and Jagroop and Moffatt causing
problems down the wings and it was from Jagroops
persistence that allowed Webber to run through and
score, a lapse in concentration allowed Toftwwod to
score from a free kick only for Underwood to score a
deserved goal after a fine solo run, Welham hit the bar
from a free kick and with minutes to go Jagroop found
Webber who's effort lobbed the Toftwood keeper.
Better from Brandon in
the second half with everyone playing exceptionally
well and Joe Buonocore getting the player of the
month trophy.

Bulldogs 3 Brandon Lads 1
Brandon under 11's played
their second game of the weekend away to Bulldogs, again
having to field Gristock as an outfield player due to
holidays. Against a very large physical Bulldogs Brandon
found it hard going but Hodgson and Mayes battled well
to keep Brandon in the game until 2 quick breaks allowed
Bulldogs a deserved lead, Brandon came into life with
Hayhoe making some good runs but unable to find the
final cross and Webber and Underwood working some good
openings up front but not able to apply the finishing
touch and this cost Brandon allowing Bulldogs to add a
third before half time.
Gristock came into the
midfield after half time adding some composure to
the game passing the ball wide to Jagroop and Hayhoe
but again Brandon could not score despite some
excellent chances until Jagroop scored from
distance, Brandon then stepped up a gear going
close many times with Hayhoe unlucky to see his
superb free kick come back off the post, this summed
up Brandon's day and they must perform much better
if they are to progress further up the league table
and come out with the right attitude.

2006 Brandon Lads 2 Thetford Ind 1
Brandon u11's were at home
Saturday to Thetford Indies in their first of two games
this weekend. With no subs and keeper Alex Gristock
playing left back Brandon were looking to avoid defeat,
neither teams played any football in the first 20
minutes in a very scrappy game with both sets of players
chasing the ball and not finding their team mates when
they did get the ball. Brandon started to battle a
little more and eventually broke the deadlock after
Underwood found Webber whose strong run beat the
Thetford defence and a cool finish past the keeper
Indies then equalised after a poor clearance. Just
before half time a good pass from Welham over the
Thetford defence again found Webber whose brilliant
finish gave the keeper no chance.
The second half
continued as the first with neither team taking
control but both having half chances, Brandon to
their credit defended very well with Stevenson,
Hodgson, Welham and Moffatt all playing their part
to hold on for the win.
Final score Brandon 2
Thetford Indies 1
MOM - Casey Underwood
but Mayes, Gristock and Jagroop all play very well.

Mundford 4 Brandon Lads 1 (cup 1st round 2nd leg)
Brandon
made the short journey to Mundford for the second round
of the cup this week; with no outfield substitutes
Brandon knew this would be a tough game against a very
good Mundford side. Both sides started brightly with
some nice attacking football but also some very good
defending with Stevenson, Welham, Moffatt and Hodgson
all defending very well, Hayhoe and Jagroop worked some
good openings but unable to break down Mundford’s strong
defence until Webbers darting run was halted in the box
winning a penalty which was placed wide by Underwood.
Mundford came back at Brandon and scored just before
half time. The second half Mundford started strong with Brandon loosing
concentration and conceding 2 quick goals, Mayes and
Buonocore then got back into the game working tirelessly
to win the ball starting some good moves especially when
they found Hayhoe whose pace caused problems, Mayes then
won Brandon’s second penalty of the match which
Underwood to his credit stepped up and dispatched into
the Mundford net this gave Brandon more confidence and
put Mundford under pressure with Jagroop seeing a fine
effort hit the post and Underwood going close, with
minutes to go Mundford killed the game off with a 4th
goal sending Brandon out of the cup.
A
closer game then the score line reflected with both
sides playing some excellent football with Mundford
deserving the win in the end, good luck in the next
round.

Wymondham 0 Brandon Lads 1
Brandon under 11's were back
in league action this week away to Wymondham. From the
start neither side managed to play football which meant
a very scrappy game with only flashes of what Brandon
know they are capable of, it took 20 minutes for Brandon
to have their first shot which Underwood scuffed at the
keeper and then Hayhoe lacking composure in front of
goal could have given Brandon the lead. The impressive
Harris Mayes and Joe Buonocore controlled the midfield
allowing Wymondham no time on the ball and all the
Brandon defence coped with any attack Wymondham did
have.
The second half started
much the same with Allen in goal coping well with
any Wymondham attack but Brandon lacking the cutting
edge going forward until mid way through the first
half neat work by Mayes found Jagroop who's pin
point pass found Hayhoe in space who's pace beat the
Wymondham defence and a fine shot from distance
lobbed the on coming keeper. Brandon then applied
further pressure with Webber and Underwood going
close and in the the final minutes Jagroop saw his
shot saved.
Brandon should have
wrapped this game up but lacked the killer finish in
front of goal but worked hard for the win and never
gave up with Mayes, Hayhoe, Stevenson and Buonocore
all outstanding.

Sunday 15th Oct
2006 Brandon Lads 1 Mundford 3 (cup 1st round 1st leg)
This week Brandon
entertained Mundford in the 1st leg of the cup after 2
disappointing results in the previous 2 games. Brandon
were slow starting again this week and allowed Mundford
too much time and space for the first 15 minutes until
Diago and Harris Mayes started to get into the game and
break up Mundford's midfield, Hodgson and Stevenson
started to control Mundford's attack and with 20 minutes
gone Webber won a free kick 20 yards from Mundford's
goal, Jake Welham stepped up and struck a perfect free
kick into the top right hand corner leaving the Mundford
keeper static. Brandon continued to battle and took a 1
nil lead to half time. From the kick off Mundford
started the better again with Brandon taking time to get
going allowing Mundford to equalise but Brandon
continued to push with Jagroop, Underwood and Mayes all
driving Brandon from midfield but unable to find Webber.
Brandon conceded from poor marking at a corner and
another good effort from distance giving Gristock no
chance, Underwood found the net after some good work
from Hayhoe and Mayes only for the effort to be ruled
offside, Jagroop and Diago both had good efforts blocked
and Webber shot wide with minutes to go.
A much better
performance this week from all especially sub Joe
Buonacore.
Final Score Brandon 1

Report to follow
Sunday 24th Sept 2006
Brandon Lads 3 Mundford 9
Brandon under 11's played
their first home game of the season to Mundford. Both
teams started brightly with Mundford have slightly the
better first 10 minutes but Brandon were unlucky not to
take the lead when Harris Mayes played Jack Hayhoe in on
goal only for his shot to be saved. Mundford then scored
2 quick goals which spurred Brandon into life with
Callum Webber scoring 2 very good goals to level the
score and could have had his hat trick before half time
but for a brave save by the Munford keeper, the Brandon
defence were caught sleeping just before half time
allowing Munford to take the lead just before half time.
The second half saw a
completely different Brandon side with no
determination or will to win, Mundford played some
excellent football in the second half which Brandon
had no reply to except for the impressive Webber who
for the second week running scored a hat trick but
Mundford scored a further six goals and had it not
been for Mayes and Stevenson this could have been
more, the whole team need to believe in themselves
and show the determination of our younger players.
