SGWL K/O Cup Final @ Elmswell FC
Brandon Lasses 1 Woodbridge Town 3
Brandon started nervously
and Woodbridge put the Lasses under early pressure.
Brandon looked to go forward on the break but Woodbridge
were in good form and much of the play was in the Lasses
defensive third, Autumn Wheeler and Ellen Rumsey
defended well and Leanne Smith was in great form in goal
for Brandon and kept Town out until late in the half
when they scored two quick goals.H/T 2-0
Brandon knew they needed
a good start to the half to turn things around and
within two minutes of the start good work from Ellen
sent Francesca Bonnett free but the shot went wide,
the Lasses were made to pay when Woodbridge broke to
score their third. This seemed to spur the Lasses on
and Francesca pulled a goal back on 12 mins. The
girls upped their game but could not find a way
though and Woodbridge always looked dangerous but
with Leanne on top of her game they could not add
any more. F/T 3-1
This completes another
great season by the Lasses under 13 squad finishing
runners up in both League and Cup.

a good stop, minutes later Charlotte Howard scored the
Lasses second. H/T 0-2
With the wind behind
them Brandon again started the half well with
Charlotte adding the Lasses third and completing her
hat trick minutes later. April Harrild, Ellen Rumsey
and Paige Kenny all contributed superbly in defence
and mid-field for the visitors. Dayna scored her

Another good season for

Sunday 18th March 2007
Copleston SC 1 Brandon Lasses 3
This match was played in a
near gale force cross wind with both teams really up
against it and neither team would have benefited much
from this fixture. Brandon took the lead through good
work in mid-field by Paige Kenny who set up Francesca
Bonnett to tuck the ball away, within minute Copleston
had levelled the scores and as both teams battled
against the elements it was hard for them to create
chances.
In the second half
Charlotte Howard finished from a Autumn Wheeler
corner and she added a second late on for a final
score of 1-3
Credit must go to the
players who battled against near impossible
conditions to complete this fixture.
Sunday 4th March Brandon
Lasses 10 Witnesham Wasps 3
(Cup Semi Final)
Brandon Lasses entertained
Witnesham Wasps in the semi-finals of the Suffolk Girls
League Cup. In wet and blustery condition Witnesham
started well and took the lead within two minutes of the
start with the ball going straight in from a well taken
corner. Both teams had chances but it was Brandon who
evened the score mid-way through the half when Jasmine
Field cleared the ball from defence for Charlotte Howard
to run through and score. Paige Kenny then blocked a
Witnesham goal kick setting Charlotte for her second
before the visitors scored again from a corner. The
Lasses re-gained the lead right on half time again from
a Autumn Wheeler corner as Dayna Howards shot came back
of the post Evie Laddell was quick to react and tuck the
ball away.
Brandon started the
second half with wind behind them and increased
their lead from a good run and cross from Francesca
Bonnett which the visitors defence struggled to
clear and April Harrild tucked the ball away.
Charlotte added another two before Ellen Rumsey
topped a superb defensive performance with a long
range goal. Charlotte scored again with her
fifth and Witnesham pulled a goal back. Charlotte
completed her double hat trick to take the score to
9-3 and Paige Kenny finished the scoring after some
great passing football in mid-field. FT 10-3
Sunday 25th February
2007 Brandon Lasses 2 Bohemians 4 (friendly)
Brandon hosted Bohemians from the Norfolk and Suffolk
girls league in a very well contested friendly.
Bohemians started playing some superb passing football
and took the lead 10 mins into the match. Brandon then
started to compete more for the ball and chances were
created at both ends. The Lasses equalised right on half
time when Charlotte played Dayna Howard in after she had
made a terrific run from mid-field and finished coolly.
Brandon had a great start to the second half when
Charlotte broke and put in a great finish to give
the Lasses the lead. Good pressure from Bohemians
levelled the scores 5 minutes later and mid-way
through the half Brandon failed top clear a corner
and Bohemians regained the lead. Late in the game a
good run from mid-field and finish by the visitor
finished the game off 2-4. This was a very good
match by both teams with some excellent passing
football!
Sunday 18th February
2007 Woodbridge Town 2 Brandon lasses 2
Brandon had the worst
possible preparation for this top of the
table fixture with two player unavailable on
the day they had to travel to unbeaten
and table topping Woodbridge with only 8
players. Things got worst in warm up when
another Lasses player injured her achilles.
Despite the setback Brandon put in the
performance of the season and with 12 mins.
on the clock Charlotte Howard finished
superbly after great work by Paige Kenny to
give Brandon the lead. Mid way through the
half Charlotte added a second. With a player
down Brandon new they would have to get
players back behind the ball and give Town
little time on the ball, they did this
superbly and when Woodbridge did find away
through Brandon's mid-field their defence
was an unbeatable form. Brandon had no
recognised goal keeper available and April
Harrild once again this season showed what a
good versatile and committed squad player
she is taking her place between the posts.
Woodbridge pressure eventually pulled a goal
back before half time. H/T 1-2
The second half was going
to be even tougher for the girls with no
subs. and a player down against a team like
Woodbridge the girls new they would have to
pull out all the stops. Brandon's defence of
Ellen Rumsey, Jasmine Field and Autumn
Wheeler really put in a match winning
performance and time and time again foiled
the Woodbridge attack. The Lasses midfield
of Dayna and Charlotte Howard and Paige
Kenny run themselves into the ground and as
if they had not done enough over 70mins. the
referee some how found 7 extra minutes and
a very harsh penalty decision to give
Woodbridge a share of the points. Despite
her injury Francesca Bonnett put in a great
display holding the ball up well up front
for Brandon. This was a great team
performance by Brandon who showed real
commitment as a team and really deserved
more!
Sunday 4th February 2007
Brandon Lasses 3 Copleston SC1

for this victory against a spirited Copleston side. The
Lasses took the lead mid-way through the half with
Charlotte Howard tucking away a lose ball from a throw
in. Dayna Howard then made it two putting a finishing
touch to a great corner from Autumn Wheeler.H/t 2-0
Ellen Rumsey, Autumn
Wheeler and April Harrild worked well as a defensive
unit and Leanne Smith in goal was solid to anything
that did get through. Susannah Bradley finished the
scoring with a good turn and shot from the edge of
the box. f/t 3-0.
Sunday 28th January 2007
Brandon Lasses 7 Bacton Utd 1 (CUP2nd rnd)
Brandon made
a terrific start to this cup quarter final fixture
against league two high flyers Bacton. Taking the lead
in the first minute when Charlotte Howard intercepted a
goal kick, controlled the ball and finished well.
Charlotte added a second minutes later and with Lasses
in control the game then settled. Chances for the
visitors were limited but they battled well for the ball
in mid-field and the keeper was in good form. With
fifteen minutes on the clock Bacton conceded a corner
and from a great delivery by Autumn Wheeler, Dayna
Howard coolly side footed the ball into the visitors
goal.H/T 3-0. The Lasses started the second half with
terrific goal by Dayna Howard chipping the Bacton keeper
from the edge of the area. Bacton pressed well but the
Brandon defence looked solid. Mid way through the half
some good passing football sent Susanna Bradley free on
the left and she finished well for Brandon's fifth.
Charlotte completed her hat-trick before the visitors
pulled a goal back when Brandon failed to clear their
lines. Paige Kenny completed the scoring with minutes to
go. Brandon player of the match Charlotte Howard, closed
the ball down and scored a great hat-trick.
Sunday 14th January 2007
Brandon Lasses 3 Bury town B 2
In a close game against
local rival Bury the Lasses once again went behind
before fighting back. Town took the lead after 15mins
and in an end to end first half the Lasses found it hard
to find a way past a crowded visitor defence. After a
month break the Lasses seemed a yard short where as Bury
looked refreshed and up for it, they could have added to
the score when a free-kick in a dangerous position was
deflected wide. H/t 0-1
Brandon started much
better in the second half and some good football by
Dayna and Charlotte Howard in mid-field set up
Francesca Bonnett for a coolly taken equaliser.
Within five minutes the Lasses had taken the lead
when good passing football from a throw in saw Ellen
Rumsey pass the ball into Bonnets feet who turned
and finished well. The advantage was increased
minutes later as Brandon threatened the visitors
goal the Town keeper looked to have cleared the
danger but April Harrild closed the ball down and
the ball deflected luckily for Brandon into the
goal. The Lasses started to play the ball around
well at this point but instead of keeping up the
pressure they become complacent, Bury hit back well
and really upped the pressure when they pulled a
goal back as Brandon failed to clear a corner. Bury
piled on the pressure late on but Brandon could of
finished the game late on but for a great save from
the town keeper.
In a very tight game
Paige Kenny, Dayna and Charlotte Howard all competed
well, Bonnett took her chances and Jasmine Field
back after two months out injured put in a very good
defensive display. F/t 3-2
Sunday 17th December
2006 Brandon Lasses 7 Waveney Girls 1
Brandon started very slow and fell a goal behind
after 15 mins. This kicked them into gear and
Francesca Bonnett equalised within minutes. Some
great one touch football by Ellen Rumsey and
Dayna Howard set up Francesca for a first time
finish to put the Lasses 2-1 up. Francesca who
has been a great goal scoring provider this
season completed a superb and well deserved hat
trick with another good finish across goal. Four
minutes later Paige Kenny's hard work in
mid-field was rewarded with a goal H/t 4-1
Charlotte Howard added to her impressive tally
for the season with two second half goals and
Susannah Bradley scored her third in two
games to complete the scoring.
Sunday 10th December 2006
Brandon Lasses 4 St. Johns 2
With both teams really up
for this match the game started with chances at both
ends, Francesca Bonnett hitting the post after 3 minutes
and St Johns taking the lead after five. Brandon fought
back well and equalise mid way through the half after
good work in mid-field by Francesca sent Charlotte
Howard clear. This lifted the Lasses but the visitors
battled well in all areas and always looked a danger on
the break. This proved to be the case on 21 min. as they
regained the lead.H/T 1-2
Brandon Started the
second half well and great work from Charlotte set
up Susannah Bradley to bring the scores level. The
Lasses had to defend well against a strong St. Johns
attack and it was good defensive work by April
Harrild who sent Paige Kenny on a strong run down
the left setting up Charlotte for her second.
Brandon sealed the victory late on when Francesca
and Paige combined well to set up Susannah for her
second and the Lasses fourth. F/T 4-2
Brandon had to really
work hard for this victory and with no sub the work
rate was terrific by all.
