News from the
touchline Wk32....(27 April 2008)
Well this is the last report from the touchline for
the season 2007/08
Just two league games this weekend, with a friendly
match on Saturday.
The under 14 team at last found winning ways beating
Ingatestone (from Essex) 4 -1 on
Saturday morning. but unfortunately they could not carry
on this winning streak to their last
league game and went down 1 - 0 away against Morley.
The under 13 lasses completed their season with another
massive win this time by 1 - 22 away
at Debenham LC. This season's goal machine Nadine Basson
hit 11 today and that's takes her
personal tally to 90 for the season. The girls have
scored 207 goals in 14 league matches
that's an average of over 14 goals per game.
Well done to every one who has played a part in making
this yet another great season for this club.
Presentation night tickets are now on sale and are
available for your team managers.
Again due to the popularity of these two night, we have
to be careful on how many tickets are sold, so for the
time being each player (free entry) is given two extra
tickets for family.
If anyone requires more family tickets then please let
your team manager know as soon as
possible and we'll try to get everyone in.
The club website will be going through some changes
during the closed season, so please be patient if some
pages are not available.

Cup final weekend.....(Sun
20 April)
Great news for the club this weekend with our under
10 & under 14 lasses, both winning their
knock out cup finals, along with the under 11 lads
wining the South Norfolk Plate final. But hard
luck goes to the under 13 lasses who came runners up in
their match.
The Suffolk Girls League cup finals were held today at
Framlingham FC, with all three of our lasses teams being
in the finals, which was a fantastic achievement in its
own right.
The under 10 lasses played first in very overcast
conditions against a very strong Copleston
team. Two goals from Shannon Odebrecht & one from
Charley Curtis gave the lasses a fine
3 - 0 win to take the trophy.
The under 14 lasses played a very evenly matched game
against Woodbridge, Jenna Grazinni
put the lasses in front, but Woodbridge replied from a
well take free kick. With minutes
running out Charlotte Howard put the ball in the net to
give the lasses another cup win.
Our under 13 lasses found their Waveney Girls opponents
in good form, and although they put
up a very spirited performance they could not match
Waveney's power up front. Harriet Mills
scoring Brandon's only goal.
Back a little closer to home our under 11 lads played at
Mundford FC in the South Norfolk
League Plate final against Cringleford, and their
manager Martin was looking for a much better performance
from his team from the last time the teams played each
other. A goal a piece from
Harry Rampley & Isaac Allen gave the lads the win and
the Plate Trophy.

News from the
touchline Wk30....(13 April 2008)
A couple of mid week games for the lasses, saw the
under 13's & 14's continue their unbeaten runs, both
with resounding victories. All the lasses have gained
much recognition this season
and two out of our three teams have won their respective
leagues and the other gaining a very
well deserved runners-up place. All three lasses teams
are through to their cup finals.
The under 9's finished their league season with a
Saturday game and drew 1 - 1 away at
Feltwell. The under 14's failed in their task to
overturn a first leg deficit in the second leg of the
plate semi final against Thetford Youth, but the under
11's made their way to the plate finals
with a 12 - 0 victory over Dereham Wanderers.
Presentation night tickets should be available by the
end of the week.

Under 14 Lasses.....
Congratulations goes to our
under 14
Lasses team who today became SGL under 14 League
Champions, with a 7 - 0 victory over Witnesham, with
Francesca Bonnett getting 4.The girls have really played
some great football this year and they fully deserve
their league winners crown.
The under 13
lasses have also secured the runners-up spot in the
under 13 league today, with
a fine 4 - 2 home win against their nearest rivals
Whitton Utd, with a hat trick from Lily Reynolds
Well done girls, you have all played brilliantly this
season, lets hope you can take your current form on to
the cup finals.

News from the
touchline Wk29 (6 April 2008)
Well its almost the end of another great season for
Brandon Lads & Lasses, well done to
everyone who has played a part in any team this year.
The girls have shown the boys the way
this season and we all congratulate the Lasses teams who
are bringing home some silverware
this season, of course its not quite over for the lasses
yet as they all have a cup final to play in
a couple of weeks time.
One lads match this weekend, with our
under 14 team
playing in the league plate competition
away at Thetford Youth, two goals from Matt Molyneux was
not enough to win the match and
the lads went down 5 - 2 in the first leg. Keep your
heads up lads and you may be able to turn
this match around in the second leg at Brandon.
Breaking News....Nadine Basson did not score this
weekend, I know its hard to believe but
she is still way out in front on the clubs leading goal
scorer table.

News from the
touchline Wk28....(30 March 2008)
Most teams are now coming to the end of the league
season, with only a few outstanding
league games left, but there are still some subsidiary
cup matches to play.
A couple of Mid week friendly matches went ahead, with
our teams being invited to play the
Ipswich Town Academy teams at Portman Road. This week
was the turn of the Under 14's &
15's. Two defeats but all the lads thoroughly enjoyed
playing against some very good quality
footballers. This coming week is the turn of the younger
teams to play.
Lets start this weekend with a Saturday game for the
under 10's, who travelled to Dereham to
play in the
league plate competition. The lads all played well and
despite losing 4 - 3, they all
put in a great effort and got right back into the game
when they found themselves 4 - 1 down.
A couple of goals for Reece Goetsch and another great
strike from Kyle Pearson.
The under 10 lasses also played a friendly this Saturday
with Poringland being the visitors to Brandon, which saw
a fine 13 - 0 victory for the girls.
Result of the season so far came on Sunday when the
under 13 lasses entertained a depleted
Bacton side, who found our girls in full flight. With a
final score of 30, yes thirty, - 0.
It looks like Nadine Basson has won the top goal scorers
spot for this season, she added
another 15 to her tally today taking her to 77 goals for
the season. Well done to her and also
the rest of the team.
Just a reminder that Dean Greygoose will be holding
the second of the keeper training days
on Tuesday staring at 10am at the playing fields.

News from the
touchline Wk27....(23 March 2008)
Merry Christmas everyone! Oops, I mean Happy
Easter, it was just the snow putting me off.
Well no games this weekend, so nothing much to report.
Don't forget Dean Greygoose is holding his goalkeeping
coaching course at the playing fields
starting on Tuesday (open to all keepers from any clubs
age 6 to 16) more details below.

Easter goalkeeper
coaching.........
Dean Greygoose (goalkeeper for Bury Town FC) will be
holding two goalkeeper coaching days
during the Easter holidays here at Brandon.
Dean holds many of these events throughout the area and
this is the first time he has come to Brandon Lads &

session at Thetford, which
is attended by some of our keepers.
The two days will be Tuesday 25th March & Tuesday 1st
April, starting at 10am and ending at
2-30pm. This coaching is open to both boys & girls from
6 to 16 years of age. The cost of each day is £15.
**A £10 discount is
available for members of Brandon lads & lasses who pay
the
full amount and attend both days training. This discount
comes from the club and not from
Dean Greygoose.**

News from the
touchline Wk26....(16 March 2008)
Looks like the weather put pay to a lot of fixtures
around the county this week end, well done
to those who did brave the elements and play and also
well done to the "Sports Relief" runners,
we hope that you all raised a good amount of money.
Not great news from the Lads this weekend, with none of
our teams playing winning any
matches and nobody scoring any goals. So our only good
news report comes from the
under 14
lasses, who beat Bury Town B 2 -0 with goals
from Charlotte Howard &
Jenna Grazinni, the lasses now only need 1 point from
two games to secure the league
championship.
We are still looking for a new club treasurer, please
give Kevin a call to find out more about
this position within the club.

|
Stranger Alert......
The club has just received news of a possible
stranger alert in our area. There has been a man
who has approached some young boys telling them that he
is a football scout from Tottenham Hotspur in order to
gain their confidence. The last boy to be approached
described him as a
white male wearing a black hat and a short black
raincoat with a spurs logo on it.
He told this boy that he had been watching him play
football over the weekend and was impressed; the boy had
been playing in a match over the weekend so the main
concern is that this man is going to games and observing
the boys before approaching them.
He is not a
scout
from Tottenham Hotspur.
This incident occurred in the Cambridge area and came to
our attention through the Mildenhall youth U15 team
manager.
To all our parents & players, please be alert, and
report to the police immediately, anyone
you suspect to be acting strangely.
|

|

current season quickly coming to an end, Brandon Lads &
Lasses AFC are looking for new players to come and join

News from the
touchline wk25.. (Sunday 9 March 2008)
Lets start with the Lasses this weekend and two fine
performances' from the
under 13 Lasses &
under 14 lasses, saw them both win in their knock out
cup semi finals, and put them along with the
under 10
lasses in the finals to be held at Framlingham on
April 20th. Its looking like another great season for
the lasses, with only a few league games left lets keep
our fingers crossed for some
more success.
Its also game on for the clubs top scorers, Olly
Farthing netted just once this weekend and for a
while was top of the leading scorers board, but Nadine
Basson can't stop scoring this year and hit 4
in her semi final match today to regain top spot.
Our under 8's hosted Bressingham in a friendly fixture
on Saturday, and got their first ever victory,
Lucas Kent netting his first club goal and four for Jake
Vincent. Well done boys. (Mark O' Malley
said "it was just like watching Nottingham Forest")
Shouldn't that be Brazil Mark?
Robbie Hunter netted for the
under 8's, but they went
down 2 - 1away at Wymondham. The
under 9's
after having much of the play could only draw 1 - 1 at
home versus Wymondham, and they now can only take the
runners-up position in the league if other results go
their way. The under 10's won
their first away game of the season in their last away
match, beating Dereham Wanderers Stripes 2 - 1.
Louis Ramage (under
14's) scored the only goal in a 4 - 1 defeat against
high flying Thetford
Magpies.
Don't forget that we are still looking for a club
treasurer this position needs filling as soon as
possible!!
Summer tournaments invitations are coming in fast visit
our 5 a side page for details of
tournaments as we get them. (link is on the homepage).

News from the
touchline wk24.. (Sunday 2 March 2008)
This weekend saw the under 8's play their match on
Saturday and they had a good win against
Morley with Robbie Hunter finding his shooting boots and
netting 5 in a 8 - 1 victory.
Will Farthings under 9 team kept their season alive with
a hard fought 4 - 3 home win versus Harling,
Olly Farthing getting a hat trick. Kier Leech & Reece
Goetsch grabbed a goal each in the under 10's
2 - 1 home win against Watton Rangers. The under 14's
lost 6 - 2 away at Thetford Youth.
The last league game of the season for our under 15 team
saw them lose 2 -3 against Tilney, with Tilney scoring
the winning goal with the last kick off the game. Well
done to all those involved with
the under 15 squad, although this is a pretty early
finish to your season, lets hope that you will
continue to train and enter some 5 a sides during the
spring/summer and all stay to continue into under 16
football next season.
The under 10 lasses also rounded off their league
programme today with a 5 - 0 victory at home against
Bacton. The lasses now will look forward to their first
cup final on April 20th. These girls
played in quite a small league, but showed lots of
determination and never lost a game throughout
their season, which lead them to be crowned league
winners. well done girls.
The under 14 lasses still kept their unbeaten run
with a close 4 - 3 victory versus Bacton, the end of the
league is in sight and its now in the lasses hands to
carry on their fine displays and go on to
take the league title. Go for it girls, make us all
proud !!

News from the
touchline wk23... (Sunday 24th Feb 2008)
Ramps' team went down 3 -1 away at Watton, only goal
for the under 8's came from Robbie Hunter.
"The under 8 team requires new players to boost its
squad, please get in touch with
Michael Rampley or any club official"
The under 9's like drawing against Dereham, with
their second 2 - 2 meeting of the season, shame
the ref didn't see the hand ball though. The under 10's
had a change in team formation and selection this week,
and did very well despite losing to local neighbours
Lakenheath. The under 11's had a
good win at home versus Dereham Wanderers by hitting 9
without reply, Harry Rampley & Jordan Kemp both getting
hat tricks. Mark Welham's under 12's
are still finding it hard and again this week played
with a bare minimum players. Casey Underwood
hit 4 but was still on the losing side.
Another point
for the under 14's with a late equalising goal from Tom
Deacon-Davey. Surely a win is just around the corner.
Well done to the under 15's with a fine away win at East
Lynn by 2 - 3, Joe Kean
in that match scoring his first goal of the season.
Our under 13 lasses are still finding it hard playing
against Waveney Girls, they went down away
from home by 2 -1. Only the second game they have lost
this season both to the same team.
The under 14 lasses hit 7 away at Stowupland Falcons,
with Charlotte Howard netting 4.

News from the
touchline wk22... (Sunday 17th Feb 2008)
Lets kick off this week ends result round up with a
comfortable win away at Watton for our
under 9's
Olly Farthing getting his shooting boots back on with a
hat trick. A very good performance from the
under 10's
today away at league leaders Toftwood, despite going
down 5 - 0 the final score line does not reflect how
well the lads all played. The
under 14's get another
league point with a 3 - 3 home
draw versus New Buckenham, Matt Molyneux getting two in
that game. Martin Chappell's
under 11 team
looked good away at Swaffham with Harry Rampley & Jordan
Kemp giving the Swaffham defenders a hard time, Harry
put away four goals & Jordan two. Never a dull game
where the
under 15's are
concerned, away at Tilney they found themselves 6 goals
down at half time, after
some encouraging words from their manager (yeah right)
the lads then started to play a bit, but although
scoring three in the second half , no miracles could be
performed today.
The under 14
Lasses played Waveney girls for the second week
running and again came home with all three points,
Natasha Dawson netting her first this season.

FA Skills Day.....
On Tuesday 12th Feb the club held an FA Skills
coaching day at the playing fields here in Brandon.
Two, two hour sessions were held with 5 to 8 year old
players in the morning and 9 to 11 year olds in the
afternoon. In glorious sunshine, both sessions had
around 30 players of all abilities
attend.
The girls & boys all had great fun, and all thoroughly
enjoyed their selves.
A big thanks to the Skills coaches, Spencer, Matt & Dan
who made the job look very easy.
We hope to be holding another skills day as soon as it
can be arranged.
|

|
News from the
touchline wk21....
Just a small fixture programme this weekend. The
under 9's found their shooting boots again this week
with a fine 9 - 1 victory against an ever improving
Thetford team, Olly Farthing netting 4 and Jamie Newson
3. The under 10's took the lead against high
flying visitor Harling, but could not
make any more headway, Harling went on to win by a
comfortable 1 - 6. Martin Chappell's lads'
played their last League trophy match against another
form team Bulldogs and went down 2 - 5.
The under 14 lasses continued with their impressive
league form and ran out a good 10 -0 win
against Waveney Girls with Frankie Bonnett scoring a hat
trick and Katie Fuller keeping a clean
sheet in her first game in goal.
Its the FA Skills coaching day on Tuesday 12th Feb, with
2 sessions, one for 5 to 8 years and the other for 9 to
11 years, more details are on our home page, there are
still some places left.
The club sends out all its best wishes to Lee Nocton
(assistant U9 coach) who is having to leave us
for a 6 month tour of duty in Iraq with the RAF
Regiment. Lee was presented with a signed club pennant
from all the under 9 players today as a little keepsake
to take with him. We wish him and
all his regiment well, good luck guys, stay safe and
we'll see you in 6 months.

Lasses are Champions....
Well done to our under 10 lasses who today become
our first trophy winners of the season.
The girls have been crowned as under 10 league champions
without actually kicking a ball today, after their
closest rivals Bacton could only draw today against
Little Oakley. The result gives the
girls a well earned championship in their very first
season together.
Congratulations to all the players for your success.
|
|

|
News from the
touchline wk20.....
As you have just read, our under 10 lasses become
the first trophy winners for the club this season,
well done to them. Also well done to our under 9 team
who secured a cup final place after a hard fought 0 - 1
semi final victory away at Feltwell, with Jamie Newson
scoring the all important goal.
The under 10's went to Dereham Town and played on the
artificial pitch (its really good) and after having most
of the play with plenty of chances going begging in
front of goal came home with a 3 - 3 draw. The under
11's continued their good league trophy match form and
beat Wymondham away
1 - 2. Martyn Hewkins lads are still giving their all,
but still unfortunately can not find the winning
touch and the under 14's went down at home 0 - 3 to
Mattishall. Its hard to talk about decisions
made by the referee in any match especially at youth
level, we are under so much scrutiny by the county FA we
have to be careful in what we say, but it looks like for
the second week running one
of our teams has been on the wrong side of some very
dodgy decisions. So Scott's under 15 team
went to the seaside to play Snettisham and came
home very frustrated after being beaten 4 - 1.
Our lasses teams are keeping the club colours flying
high with some fine performances, the
under 13 lasses again this weekend made double figures
with a 13 - 0 victory, Tash Rutter netting
5 & the goal machine Nadine Basson only getting 4 this
week. But the performance of the day belongs to the
under 14 lasses who at long last (after 4 season's) beat
their bogey team
Woodbridge Town by 3 - 0 and more importantly
take a 4 point lead at the top of the league over
them.

|
News from the
touchline wk19.....
A much better weekend weather wise for week 19 of
the league programmes...An outstanding performance from
under 8 goalie
Reece Collins, was not quite enough to help his team and
they
went down at home to Dereham Wanderers 2 - 5. It looks
like a very much uphill task now for the
under 9's in
their quest for a league title when they went down at
home to a very spirited Lakenheath. The Lakenheath
manager was full of praise for his players saying that
"it was their best performance of
the season". Two goals for back in form Reece
Goetsch for the
under 10's gave them a home win against Scole. The
under 11's
fought hard in their league trophy match versus
Cringleford and a goal a piece from Jordan Kemp & Jack
Slaughter gave the home side the win. Mark Welhams
under 11
team are still finding this season difficult and went
down at home to New Buckenham, with Casey Underwood
scoring Brandon's only goal. The
under 14's at
last played a league fixture this year, but
unfortunately found themselves against quite
overpowering opposition in the form of Toftwood and I'm
sad to hear were up against a few "iffy" decisions from
the man in the middle.
Scott Sheppard's
under 15 boys went to Reffley for a league
subsidiary cup match and lost by 3 - 1.
Well done to our
under 13
lasses who go through to the league knock out cup
semi final with a 2 -1
victory against Whitton Utd. The
Lasses under
10's beat Copleston 3 - 1 with Charley Curtis
netting
a couple & the
under 14
lasses also played Copleston and won well by 6 - 1
with Charlotte Howard
getting two.

|

|
News from the
touchline wk18.....
The wet weather put pay to some of this weekends
games, with many games postponed due to
water logged pitches.
The under 9's
travelled to Cringleford knowing that they must try and
take maximum points from
their remaining games to challenge Mundford for top spot
in the league, but unfortunately a few
lapses in concentration did their quest no favours and
the home side went on to win 5 - 3. Don't give up trying
lads, we all have off days.
The under 15's
got back into wining ways with a 7 - 4 victory against
Litcham, Matt Hayden netting
a hat trick and 2 a piece for Josh Green & Ryan Gallant.
Our under 14
lasses went to Bacton in the quarter final of the
knock out cup and scraped a 1 -o win with the only goal
of the game coming from Natalie Nowland.
Two events for your diaries coming up shortly... A half
term FA skills coaching sessions at the Playing Fields
on Tuesday 12th Feb (details on our home page) & The
"Sports Relief Mile" also at
the Playing Fields on Sunday 16th March (more details
for this when it comes available).

News from the
touchline wk 17.....
I think we all better have some of what Nadine
Basson has had, 10 goals again this
weekend taking her
to 53 goals in 8 games, that's 6.62 goals every game
and one week she didn't even score. The under 13 lasses
followed last weeks 26 goal win by going 7 better and
getting 33
this week, 7 from Elizabeth Reynolds, 6 from Natasha
Dawson, hat tricks for Amber Browne &
Kayliegh Nolan and two a piece from Rachel Atherton &
Sally Eastwood. Well done to the under 10 lasses for
continuing their wining ways with a 6 - 2 victory at
Copleston, Ellese Masters doing the damage with 5 goals
and a first of the season for Patricia Grazini. A close
game away at Cornard Dynamos, with the under 14 lasses
coming home with the points wining by a solitary goal
from Charlotte Howard.
The under 8's beat local neighbours Weeting 3 - 2, with
a hat trick from Rhys Jenkins. The under 9's
had no league game today, but played table topping
Moreton Hall from the Ipswich & Suffolk League and won
convincingly 1 - 4.
The under 10's seem to be suffering a lack of confidence
on the ball lately and again this week went down heavily
to New Buckenham Orange 8 - 3. Martin Chappells, under
11's played well against Swaffham in their league trophy
match and Jordan Kemp netted a hat trick to give them a
comfortable 5 - 1 win. Well done to Scotts under 15 lads
who went to play away at league leaders Leverington
Youth and came home with a 2 - 2 draw. Ryan Gallant
scoring what Scott describe as a goal of the season.
Don't forget we need new players for next season and
also urgently need a coach for our year 1 Saturday
soccer players.
I'm off now to eat 20 weetabix to give me the strength
to play in the veterans 5 a side league and try
to score 10 like Nadine.

News from the
touchline wk 16.....
Nadine Basson from the
lasses under
13 team makes the headlines today, by going goal
crazy against Debenham LC. Nadine hit 13, to take her
tally for the season to 43, only 4
goals behind Olly Farthing (who also scored 3 today).
Nadine's feat was followed up by another 13
goals scored between 6 players in a 26 - 0 win.
A good away win for the
under 14
lasses at Felixstowe & Walton (1 - 3) puts them
through to the
next round of the lasses K/O cup.
Michael Rampleys young
under 8 team
celebrated victory today over the league leaders Watton
by
5 - 4, Robbie Hunter hitting a hat trick for a fine win
against an unbeaten Watton team.
The under 9
boys got back into winning ways after the Christmas
break and beat New Buckenham
9 - 0. Mick millers
under 10's
struggled to find their way against Bulldogs, but a fine
strike from Tommy Greenacre earned them a draw at 1 - 1.

New players.....
With us being half way through this season the club
is looking forward and already making plans for
the new 2008/09 season, our 25th. We shall be looking
for new players at all age groups to come
and join our very successful and highly popular club, to
help strengthen our competitive squads.
The club will hopefully try and re-form an under 13 team
(U14 next season) which was missing from our club set up
this season. Early indications show that we stand a good
chance of re-forming this very successful squad with
many players asking about this already, so if you are
playing at
under 13 this season and feel that you would like to
find out more about what we have planned then please get
in touch with me [
kbriston@brandonladsandlasses.co.uk] we look forward
to hearing
from you.
Also for more information regarding any one of our other
squads then again use the e mail link
above and we'll point you in the right direction.

Silver anniversary....
Firstly we wish everyone a Happy New Year and we
look forward to a successful run up to the end of
this current season.
In August of this year Brandon Lads & Lasses will be 25
years old, this is a great achievement
for us here at the club. From the first beginnings back
in the season 1983/84 with one team,
up to the present day when we are supplying our local
community with 7 boys teams, 3 girls teams and 2 very
popular Saturday clubs for the very young children. We
hope that during this year we will be able to organise
some special events so that everyone can come along and
give us their support, with all this leading up to a
25th anniversary presentation night in 2009.
If any old players, managers, supporters have any
photo's, news cuttings or stories from the
past 25 years
then please get in touch and we will try and add them to
this web site, for all to enjoy.

HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY
"ROLY"

News from the
touchline WK 15 (Sunday 16th December)
Well firstly, from all of us at the club we want to
wish our club secretary and super ref "ROLY" a very
happy 40th birthday today. Even though he was a bit of a
light weight and couldn't make to today's game. (must
have been something he ate or drank last night).
I think that this is the last weekend of games before
Christmas, so everyone can have a
little rest for a couple of weeks.
It was another good victory for the
under 8's away at
Mundford in their league match by
1 - 3. The under 9's travelled to Litcham and ran out
comfortable 14 - 0 winners,
Olly Farthing (4) along with hat tricks for Liam Wing,
Jamie Newson & Matt Woodward.
The saga of the under 10's k/o cup 1/4 final match
against Harling came to a conclusion today, with the
replayed match taking place. Brandon went into the half
time break down
by 2 goals to nil, the lads got back into the game with
goals from Reece Goetsch & Chris Wilson, but Harling
always looked the stronger team and took their place in
the semi final
with a 5 -2 victory. Well done to the
under 11's who
scored a terrific win at home against New Buckenham by
13 - 1, Harry Rampley netting 6, with Jordan Kemp also
getting a hat trick, along with a season first for
Joseph Smith.
The under 14's played in the first
semi final leg of the league k/o cup against Thetford
Magpies and went down 10 - 1 with Brandon's only goal
coming from Jake Silverwood.
The under 10 lasses travelled into Essex to play Little
Oakley and came home with the spoils winning 2 - 6 & the
under 14 lasses carried on winning ways with a 2 - 4 win
away
at Felixstowe & Walton.

News from
the touchline WK 14
What a shame the Disco has been cancelled, but with
only 30 tickets having been sold the
committee thought that it would be too risky for the
disco to go ahead.
Following on from last weeks under 10 k/o cup game at
Harling, the league Chairman had informed our Secretary
that this match would have to be replayed this weekend
because of a breach of
league rules, well the Harling team manager rang Mick
Miller and said that they were not prepared
to replay this match and that was that. So at present it
looks like it's back in the hands of the
league.
Not many matches to report on this weekend. Lets start
with our under 7
team, who played in their second friendly match against
Thetford Indies. The lads found themselves two goals
down at the
turn, but fought back with goals from Callum Horne &
Jake Vincent, but it wasn't to be their day
when Thetford scored the winner late on.
Will Farthing's
under 9 team travelled to Harling for a 1/4 k/o cup
match and gained a semi final
place with a 3 - 5 victory amongst the scorers was Jamie
Newson with a hat trick.
What can one say about our
under 15's in
their Umbro Suffolk Minor cup match at Stowupland......
After being beaten 15 - 0 the answer is nothing, never
mind lads, keep your heads up it will soon be Christmas.
Only one girls team playing this weekend, with our
under 10's
playing in two matches, on Saturday the girls travelled
to Poringland for a friendly and won 4 - 0, Ellesse
Masters and Chloe Killing3orth sharing the goals, and
today hosting Essex team Little Oakley in a league match
and again wining
this time 9 - 1, Ellesse again on the score sheet with
four.
I think I've fixed the under 15 page, time will tell !!

Christmas
Disco The
Christmas Disco Has Been Cancelled
The club committee took
the hard decision to cancel the Christmas disco due to
lack of interest.
With only 30 tickets sold out of a possible 250 and with
only a week to go it really was the only decision to
make. These tickets have been on sale for a month, so
were is everybody?
Tickets were available from 5 club members who you all
know and could all contact, but 3 of these people had
not bee able to sell a single ticket.
Under 10's k/o cup 1/4 final this game has
now got to be replayed according to the league
officials. Roly & Mick where right and did try to tell
their opponents that the game should have gone
to
penalties, but someone from Harling said that they had
read the rule book that morning and that extra time
should be played. Lets hope this will be another
cracking game.

News
from the touchline Wk 13
What a wet and windy day today, well done to
everyone players and supporters who braved the wild
conditions.
Could I just add, that please let any referee do their
job, we all find it very difficult to get someone
to volunteer to become match official for the day. We
would all love to be able to have qualified referees
walk out to the middle and take charge of a match. If
parents do not let these people do a
voluntary service for any team, without shouting abuse
at them, then we will find that no one in their right
mind will step forward to take the whistle, then your
son/daughter may have to find another
sport to play rather than football.
The under 10's
went to Harling to play in the 1/4 final of the knock
out cup, and played very well,
only losing out in extra time (which I hasten to add was
not needed according to league rules, the game at one a
piece at full time should have gone straight to
penalties, something for the league to sort out). The
under 11's
gained a good win against Wymondham with Kane Philpot &
Adam
Vincent scoring for the first time this season. Martyn
Hewkins boys are still searching for their first
win of the season, these
under 14
players are finding the going a little tough, but all of
them are working hard as a team and still enjoying their
football.
The under 15's
certainly know how to score goals, but unfortunately
they are still letting more in at
the other end, in another high scoring and free flowing
match the boys went down 5 - 7 at home to Downham
Market, with Matt Hayden once again scoring a hat trick
and a club first for Ryan Gallant.
No games for the lasses this weekend with Bury Town A
calling off with a water logged pitch.
*Just to mention I'm still having trouble updating and
uploading the under 15 page for this site, so please be
patient and I'll try and sort out the problem as soon as
possible*

News
from the touchline Wk 12
A bad training session accident on Saturday has left
one of our under 14 players needing hospital treatment
for a broken leg. Josh Morter has broken his leg in
three places after a tackle in a training match.
Everyone at the club wishes Josh a speedy recovery and
we all hope to see him back, fit & well really soon.
We have just been informed that Breckland School Disco
is on the same night as our Club disco,
so if you require tickets for our Xmas disco please
contact one of our ticket sellers as soon as possible.
If we do not sell enough tickets for our night then we
may have to think about cancelling
our event. (ticket sellers are Roly Kent, Kevin Briston,
Steve Molyneux, Roger Field & Will Farthing)
Theo Stasiak hit 3 for our under 8's today in their
local clash with Weeting. The lads running out
6 - 2 winners. The under 9's got back into winning ways
with a 5 - 1 away victory against Bulldogs, Olly
Farthing with his shooting boots back on today netting
all 5 goals. The under 10's made some
very basic mistakes to give Rocklands an easy victory.
The boys will have to work hard in training
this week if they are going to progress in their next
match, the 1/4 final of the k/o cup.
Martin Chappells team found an improving Cringleford
team to much for them as they went down
3 - 1 in their league trophy match. A good away win for
our under 15's at Stoke Ferry with Matt Hayden grabbing
3 and 2 each from Josh Green & Sam Sheppard in a 10 - 0
win which included a club first goal for Harley Hunter.
*Just to mention I'm having trouble updating and
uploading the under 15 page for this site, so please be
patient and I'll try and sort out the problem as soon as
possible*
Our lasses teams are still showing great form this
season, our under 13 lasses had a terrific 2 - 4 away
win against Whitton Utd with Tash Rutter netting twice,
and our under 14 lasses also had a good away win by 6 -
2 against Witnesham Wasps, Paige Kenny & Charlotte
Howard getting 2
each.

News
from the touchline Wk 11
Lets start this weekend with the big top of the
table clash between local neighbours Mundford and
our under 9's.
Its reported that Mundford entered the "Lions Den", well
I'm not sure whether either teams played like lions,
they just simply tried their best, and on the day it was
Mundford who went home with the spoils. Some times I
feel that too much pressure is put on the shoulders of
young children to perform to win in every game, take a
step back and just watch the "children" play.
As for the Lions Den, you can always move to
somewhere new !!
The under 8's
played a difficult league trophy match away at Wymondham
and drew 4 - 4. Mick Millers
under 10's put
in a good all round performance to beat a hard working
Dereham Wanderers Stripes 6 - 3, Reece Goetsch hitting a
hat trick for the team. Two games this weekend for the
under 11's, on
Saturday the boys travelled to Cringleford for a
re-arranged league match and cam home
2 - 1 winners, and on Sunday they played Dereham
Wanderers in a league trophy match and won
6 - 0 with Jordan Kemp & Harry Rampley both getting hat
tricks. Our under
15's went to Mattishall
to play in the second round of the league k/o cup with
only 10 men, (where were all the others??)
and despite giving it their all lost by 8 goals to 2.
The under 10
lasses needed to win today to get them through to
the league cup final and again they played some
impressive football against visitors
Copleston and gained the win they wanted by 7 - 1,
Ellesse Masters with a hat trick in that game.
The under 13
lasses carry on scoring for fun at the moment with a
10 - 0 win against St. Johns, Nadine Basson netting 5 to
take her goal tally to 30 for the season.
Don't forget your disco tickets are on sale (see below
for details)!!!
See you all next week.

News
from the touchline Wk 10
Firstly, news that Frankie Bonnett was taken to
hospital today after a head injury during her match
at Bacton, we hope that Frankie is OK and recovers
quickly. *** Just had news
that Frankie was
sent home from hospital and was given the all clear***
Our under 7
team played their very first match on Saturday in a
friendly at home against Bury St Edmunds, despite losing
this match all the boys had a great time and Jack Slater
found the net
twice for his first ever club goals. (A match report is
on the under 7 team page).
The under 8's
played host to Morley and had a comprehensive win, 9 -
0, Theo Stasiak and Robbie Hunter both getting hat
tricks and I think a first goal, well two in fact for
Mitchell Plumpton.
Sadly our under 9's
lost their unbeaten run away at the hands of Wymondham,
this will set up
nicely a home match next week against local rivals and
last years league winners Mundford.
The under 11's
played Swaffham in a League trophy match and came away
with the win in a very
tight match, Harry Rampley netting a hat trick.
Mark Welhams boys (under12's)
are still finding the going tough and were again
defeated at home
this weekend. The
under 14's
went to play league leaders Thetford Magpies and put in
a very good performance, although losing 3 - 0 reports
from the camp are very encouraging.
All the lasses teams played away at Bacton, and the
under 10
lasses continued wining ways with a
3 - 5 victory, Charley Curtis scoring a debut hat trick
with Georgia O'Malley also scoring a debut
goal. The
under 13 lasses went goal crazy, getting 20, with
Nadine Basson finding the net 8 times
and Amber Browne
getting 4. To make it three wins from three games at
Bacton the
under 14 lasses
then played and won 4 - 0 with the Howard girls both on
the score sheet this week.

News
from the touchline Wk 9
Sorry Roger, but I only had one visit to the door on
Halloween night, Sue must have scared the kids off
with her hair in curlers!!!.
I sit writing this at 7-15pm on Sunday night, 4th Nov
2007. Two of our teams have yet to inform me
of their match results, that's very strange considering
one match kicked off today at the
ridiculous time of 9-30am (It should never have been
agreed), and this match would have finished
just after 10-30am, and now one has bothered to let me
have the result. The other game is even worse, they
played yesterday, so what's happened to their result?? .
If teams can not be bothered
to ring, text, e-mail, use carrier pigeon, send smoke signals or
use any other means of communication to get their match
results
to me so it can be added to our web site, then we may
have to think about removing
their team page and giving the space to someone else.
Come on you managers wake up, if letting
me know your results is to difficult for you then get
someone else to
do it for you!!!.
Anyway back to this weekends footy... Well done to the
Under 15's who
travelled to play
Witnesham Wasps in the 2nd round of
the Umbro Suffolk Minor Cup, and came home with a 2 - 3
victory to see them through to the next round. The
under 12's are
still finding things hard this season and went out of
the South Norfolk League Cup, losing 1 - 3 at home to
New Buckenham. Our
under 14
lasses got back into winning ways this weekend with
a good 4 -1 home win against Stowupland Falcons. Martin
Chappell's under 11
team, was missing some key players today due to some
local derby match played in Norwich, although the team
put up a valiant performance, they struggled against a
strong Watton team and went down 4 - 1.
Two more results in at last, the
under 8's found
Watton to strong for them in the league trophy and went
down 0 - 5, but Mick Miller's
under 10's
recorded their biggest ever win with a 15 - 0 triumph
away at New Buckenham in the K/O cup, they now will meet
strong opposition away at Harling in
the 1/4 finals.

News
from the touchline Wk 8
Good luck to Harrison Plumpton (under 15's) who has
been selected for trials at Ipswich Town Youth Academy,
the trials are in December, and we'll let you know how
Harrison gets on.
A great result today for the under
8's who travelled to Cringleford in their first
League trophy match
and came away with a 2 - 7 win, Theo Stasiak finding the
net for a hat trick. Will Farthings
under 9 team stay unbeaten this season with a good 4
- 2 victory away at Harling. Olly Farthing scoring
after
just 10 seconds. A good end to end match for the
under 10's away at Watton
Rangers, Reece Goetsch once again getting on the score
sheet with a well taken hat trick, and despite being two
goals down early in the match the final score ended up 5
- 5.
Harry Rampley (8) & Jordan Kemp(7) went on a goal fest
at New Buckenham in the under 11
league trophy match, final score 20 - 0. Some late call
offs meant that the under 12
team hosted Thetford Indies with only 10 players, its
hard enough to play good teams with a full squad let
alone trying to play 70 minutes with a man missing, we
hope that this was just a one off for Mark and his team.
The first points of the season for the
under 14's with a well earned
draw away at high flying
Swaffham, Tom Deacon-Davey getting the goal. Our
under 10 Lasses continue
their good form with
a fine 9 - 0 win at home versus
Little Oakley, Shannon Odebrecht hitting 6 in this game.
The under 13 lasses lost
their good start to the season today when they went down
0 - 5 at home
to Waveney
Girls.
To all our players who may go out "trick or treating"
on Wednesday night, please behave yourselves
and do not pester or scare people who may not wish to
take part.

News
from the touchline Wk 7
Earlier this week, Matt Morley who was the assistant
coach for last season's under 8 team passed away at the
age of 36. Matt had been ill for a year and fought a
very courageous battle against his illness. From all of
us here at Brandon Lads & Lasses AFC we wish to pass on
our condolences to Matt's wife, Kerry and his two
children Jack and Jessica.
Matt's funeral will take place on Monday 22 Oct at St.
Peters Church in Brandon at 2-30pm, no flowers,
and mourners are asked to wear bright colours at Matt's
request. Donations are to be made to St. Nicholas
Hospice.
Just a small football programme for us this week to
report on. The under 9's
dropped their first points of the season in a 2 - 2 home
draw against a very hard working Dereham Town, Olly
Farthing getting both Brandon goals. A hard fought 2 - 1
victory for the under 10's
against local neighbours Lakenheath, saw Kyle Pearson
head home the winner with almost the last kick of the
game.
Mark Welham introduced some new players in his under 12
team, and came away from
Attleborough with a 3 - 3 draw, with Callum Webber
netting twice.
A second defeat for the
under 14's away at New Buckenham, with Josh Morter
scoring his first club
goal for Brandon. Scott Sheppard's
under 15's entertained Snettisham for the second
week running and after last weeks goal fest between the
two teams, this match was a little more subdued, with
Snettisham going home with the points after winning 1 -
0.

WASP Sports Awards Results
Well what a night, its always great to be short
listed for an award and to be chosen as one of the areas
foremost sports clubs is a wonderful
achievement...but...I don't want this to sound like sour
grapes, but we came runner up for the second year
running, and this time losing out to a ruddy bowls
club... yes, I did say bowls club, West Row bowls club
in fact, a club with about 10
members all collecting their pensions and turning up in
their electric buggies. Well done to them,
it probably costs them a fortune to train their coaches
to gain a minimum level 1 coaching in the technique of
bowl slinging, along with their CRB checks for anyone
under the age of 75. Gaining
a bowls slinging development charter must have taken
them all of one day and that was even
stopping for an afternoon nap.
We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to
gain our FA development Charter mark, to
put all our coaches through the FA level 1 coaching
courses at £100 per coach, to make sure that all our
coaches and assistants are CRB checked, to ensure that
all our equipment is safe for all
of our 160 members to use. So really not much difference
between the two clubs then.
Sour grapes, not really, just a few truths, well I'm off
now, up in the loft to get out Granddads'
bowls,
I'm going to give them a good old polish and throw them
around the garden for a while at
something called Jack, it
might make me feel better.
Olly Farthing was also a runner up in the young
sportsman of the year category, but at least the winner
in that group was a junior world champion and held
around 50 national titles.
Well done once again to Breckland Middle School who for
the second year running won the title
of Sports School of the Year.

Good luck to the Club & Olly Farthing at tomorrow
nights WASP sports awards. we'll bring you
news on how we get on.
Take note on the news below, and put the Christmas disco
date in you diaries!!
Back to matters on the pitch this weekend....Michael and
his under 8's
have some work to do to
get back on winning ways. Our
under 9's
remain unbeaten with another fine display of passing
football to take 3 more points, Olly Farthing hitting 5
in this match. A good away victory for Mick's
under 10's in
their knock out cup match at New Buckenham, with Kyle
Pearson netting a hat trick. The visitors, Bulldogs
played some neat quick football and went home with the
win against the
under 11's.
An away defeat at the hands of Woodbridge brought and
end to the
under 14 lasses unbeaten run, and unfortunately and
end to their clean sheets. Game of the day was
undoubtedly the
under 15's
who entertained Snettisham in the preliminary round of
the Mid Norfolk Leagues knock out cup.
At 5 - 2 up the home side looked to be cruising into the
next round, but Snettisham hit back to
bring the scores level at full time. Both teams scored
in extra time to bring the match to 6 - 6. Brandon's
players kept their nerves and scored with every penalty
in the shoot out. Big thanks to
Will Farthing who stepped in to referee at short notice.

"Bonus
Ball" Competition....
The club would also like to start a "Bonus Ball"
competition. The idea is that you buy a ball (or as many
as you want) for £1 per week payable on a quarterly
basis through a standing order. There
will be a weekly prize of £25 for the winner who has
the same numbered ball as the one picked in
the main Saturday only Lotto draw. So we need 49
people to take part in this, if there are more people
interested then we can run two competitions.
If you are interested then e mail me at
webmaster@brandonladsandlasses.co.uk and we can get
things started. "You gotta be innit to winnit"

Race Night @ "The Bell"
A race night fund raiser has been held at the "Bell"
with all the proceeds being donated to Brandon Lads &
Lasses. The speed of the event unfortunately held us
back in promoting the night. But a very big thank you
goes to Alan & Marion at the Bell for nominating our
club for the proceeds. Thanks
also goes to Neil & John the "honest Bookies" and to
Jamie the compeer, a big thanks to everyone who came
along and supported us and those of you who spent your
money on the horses (I'm sure there were some with 3
legs). A grand total of £370 was raised, which is a
fantastic amount considering the amount of people who
attended, this money will go towards paying for more kit
and equipment for our players. Once again thank you all
very much.

Tesco Sports Vouchers The Tesco Sports
Vouchers are back...we would love for you all to start
collecting for our club, or maybe share your collected
vouchers between us and your school (that would keep us
both happy)
In the past we have collected enough vouchers for
equipment such as,
training balls, cones etc.
The more we collect the more we can order. Give your
collected vouchers to your team manager or any committee
member and we will get our secretary to do the ordering.

News from the
touchline Sunday 9th Sept 2007 Brandon Lads & Lasses AFC
kicked off the new season today, with some great results
and some great comeback stories. Well done to our under
8's who played superbly to win their first
competitive league game 5 - 1 against Mundford. With
debut goals for Kean Ridge, Robbie Hunter & a hat trick
for Theo Stasiak. Our under 9's went into a half time
lead of 0 - 5 against New Buckenham, but found the
Buckenham keeper, to hard to beat in the second half. A
debut goal in that match for Joseph Haire. Reece Goetsch
scored the winner for the under 10's after they had
trailed to a first
half goal from Bulldogs, with the equaliser, again a
debut goal coming from Kyle Pearson. A 6 - 4
win for the under 11's in their first 11 a side match
versus Swaffham with a hat trick from Jordan Kemp. Our
under 12's went down 3 - 5 to Bulldogs, Brandon trailed
early on but got back into the game with 3 well taken
goals from Callum Webber, Jake Welham and another debut
scorer Travis Steed. Thrills at both ends for our under
15's who after having all their fixtures changed,
visited Downham Market, Who says football is boring?
Tell that to those players who fought out a 5 - 5
draw. 2 of the goals from Matt Haden on his debut. The
lasses also faired well this weekend with
the under 10's playing some neat football to beat Bacton
6 - 2 with ever improving Shannon
Odebrecht scoring 5. Last but not least our under 14
lasses put on the style to comprehensively
beat Bury Town A 11 - 0. Charlotte Howard starting were
she left off last season by scoring 4, with Paige Kenny
also getting a hat trick, and 2 debut goals from Jenna
Grazini.

Coach urgently required Brandon Lads & Lasses AFC are looking for
volunteers who would like to help and then in time take
on the new Saturday
Soccer club for year 1 children, which would
possibly start in September/October. This is a great way
to get into football coaching, and it is open to anyone,
preferably to a parent whose child wants to come and
start training in this group. The club is fun based and focuses on basic ball skills. The club would
require any new coach to satisfy a CRB check and also attend an FA Level 1 coaching course (Fun
and not to difficult) which includes a Child Protection workshop and an emergency 1st aid
course, all this is done over the course of a couple of
nights and two weekends. If you feel that you could help
and commit some time to our club, then please get in touch for more information.

Without new coaches coming
forward this club may not be able to continue.

year. We have had early indications that there are some
people who may be interested in doing this. So if you or
someone
you know has a little time to spare to help our
club then we would like to know.
Contact any team manager or committee member.

Boot Bank.....
Brandon lads & lasses, are now going to set up a boot
bank. This is were
parents
or
players can bring their old out grown football boots (in
good condition please) so that they can
be sold on
at a very small cost to other players. We
will keep the boots for around 6 months and if none have
gone, then we will pass them on to a very worthy cause.
So please
dig out your old
boots, pass
them on to your team
manager/coach or directly to me (Kevin).
Not only will
you be pleased for having a clear out, but also you will
be helping the club.

REFEREE
!
We now have 8 interested people for this course, we only
need 2 more then we can set the wheels in motion and get
this course started.
We all know how difficult the referee's job is. One
chance to see an incident, and one blow of
the
whistle to make his or hers decision. Was he right or
wrong?
Wherever you go to play football, it's always the same
story, a big shortage of referee's!
Brandon Lads & Lasses are looking for new referee's. The
club needs a minimum of 10 people, who
would like to become referee's then we
can approach Suffolk FA, and they will then send their
referee instructors to us here at Brandon.
The course is one night per week for 7 weeks then an
exam on the 8th week.
Entry is open to both male & female aged 14 or over.
If you are interested in this then please give me a call
for more info.
