The
top players from the Suffolk Girls Football League
consisting of a combination of players from
Brandon Lasses, St. Johns, Waveney Youth Girls F.C.
and Witnesham Wasps took on their opponents from
Cambridgeshire. A fast and high class match
developed and L.Teicher gave Suffolk and early
lead after a perfect cross from N.Thomas. Cambs
fought back and soon equalized from an unstoppable
free-kick. Their pressure increased even further
and K.Moran had to produce several top class saves
with R.Cotterill, G.Gooch and C.Edwards
nevertheless managing to hold against the Cambs
attacks. With R.Tejano strengthening the midfield,
S.Davis looked always dangerous on the break.
After a few changes at half time the match changed
and Suffolk took control of the game with captain
F.Bonnett and S.Knights taking charge of midfield
and putting the pressure on their opponents.
L.Teicher nearly snatched the winner for Suffolk
but the excellent match between the two top class
teams ended in a deserved draw.

Brandon Lasses 0 Waveney Youth 2
Brandon entertained league champions Waveney
Youth and despite the visitors being a player
down they really showed their strength scoring
early on. The Lasses played some good football
at times but often with no end product. Chelsey
Newell was a handful to the Waveney defence
and Natasha Dawson put in a very good
and controlled performance in defence. All
the girls have contributed to a good season well
done to all!

Brandon needed to win this match well in order
to progress to the final of this competition.
The home side started brightly forcing wave
after wave of attacks. Their patience were
rewarded when Lilly Reynolds scored from
outside the penalty area. Number 2 came
following a rehearsed corner kick, Chelsey
Newell getting the final touch. Chelsey got her
second after a neat turn and crisp shot into the
bottom corner.
Brandon pressed again in the second half without
any luck. Amber Browne was forced to make a
super save to keep a clean sheet for Brandon.
A great team performance but unfortunately
missed out on a place in the final by one goal.
Player of the match Lilly Reynolds.

Brandon had a disastrous start and found
themselves 5-0 down after only five minutes. Solid
hard work and a bit of good fortune saw Brandon
rally and got a deserved consolation when Sally
Eastwood scored a fine goal. The second half began
in a different fashion with Brandon doing all the
pressing but to no avail. Amber Browne had a great
second half in goal to keep the home side at bay.

Brandon started brightly but it was Herons who
scored first. This spurred the Lasses on, they
lifted their game and were unlucky when Chelsey
Newell hit the post. Brandon got their reward when
Chelsea scored a fine individual goal. The same
player then had a goal ruled out after an
advantage was missed. Brandon pressed hard in the
second half for a winner and got it with another
Chelsey Newell strike. In the dying minutes Georgie
Lingham kept the Lasses in front with some fine
saves. P.O.M. Natasha Dawson.

relief 2nd half started better for Brandon but
they could not turn chances into goals. Inevitably
wasps took the lead 10 minutes from the end
quickly followed by the second. Brandon presses
forward and Sally Eastwood was unlucky to see a

Brandon Lasses 2 Waveney
Youth 3
The Lasses started very brightly and had the
better of the first 15 minutes. Waveney
started to get into the game and inevitably took the
lead, followed by a second two minutes. later
following a mix up in the Lasses defence. Half
time could not have come quick enough at this
stage.
The second half started with Brandon still under
pressure, and if it wasn't for stand in goal
keeper Amber Browne things could have got a lot
worse. Waveney did add another before Brandon came back and a great shot from
Beth Stone made it 1-3. The Lasses now started to
press and got their reward when sub Chelsea Newell
scored a fine solo goal. The final whistle went
too soon for Brandon, but all the girls can
hold their heads high. A very
entertaining game was enjoyed by a very sporting
crowd. P.O.M Amber Browne.

Brandon ran out winners against a team that
had seemed to be their bogey side. Brandon
got the early lead with a well taken goal from
Francesca Bonnett and by half time Brandon were
well on top but could not turn possession into
goals.
The second half started much the same as the first
but this time Lilly Reynolds was the scorer, Lilly
then went on to add her second before the ever
improving Sally Eastwood made it four.

Brandon had the worst possible start, going one down
to a seemingly harsh penalty in the first few
minutes. The Lasses kept playing good
football but were caught by Witnesham on the break
and by half time Brandon were three down.
Chelsey Newell was introduced in the second half and
the Lasses pulled one back through Francesca
Bonnett. Brandon continued to press but it
was the home side who broke again to score their

Waveney Herons
1 Brandon Lasses 0
Early pressure from Herons was soaked up by a
well marshalled Brandon defence. Two evenly
matched sides battled well, with the Heron's
taking the lead mid-way through the half after a
goal mouth scramble. The Lasses heads didn't drop
but they could not find an equaliser.
The second half started as the first , but the
lasses started to increase in confidence and put
pressure on the Herons. Amber Browne forced a fine
save from the Heron's keeper but despite the
Lasses pressure they could not find the goal
they were looking for. A superb effort
from all the girls and a superb player of the
match performance from Sally Eastwood.
