Watton
5 Brandon Lads 2
This week Brandon U9 squad went to a very strong
and physical Watton Wanderers side and played outstandingly.
Watton put Brandon under a lot of pressure for the first ten
minutes, but the Brandon defence of Jake Welham and Liam
Moffat stood up to the task well, with Casey Underwood
making some good tackles from the midfield. Brandon
did concede two goals in quick succession, but with the
introduction of new signing Callum Webber, Brandon picked
their game up and started to pass and battle for the ball
better. It was not surprising when their good work,
especially from Webber and Underwood, gave Jake Hayhoe a
chance to score a goal which he took brilliantly from
distance.
After the break Watton continued to pressure their visitors,
but some fine saves from Brandon 'keeper Alex Gristock, and
some strong defending kept Watton at bay until midway
through the half when they added two more goals.
Underwood then made and excellent run to earn a penalty,
which Hayhoe scored from. Injuries to Joe Barton and
Liam Moffat meant Brandon had to struggle through the final
ten minutes and Watton capitalised to score again.
All credit to Brandon for their hard work and it wont be
long before they get a win. MoM Casey Underwood and
Alex Gristock, but also well done to all players involved.

Lads 1 Silfield 2
This week Brandon Lads U9 squad entertained
Silfield and after a heavy defeat to Lakenheath the previous
week they needed to raise their game. Brandon started
livelier with Joe Barton and Casey Underwood working very
hard in midfield with some solid defending from Jake Welham
and Logan Maxwell. Brandon broke the deadlock with
some good work from Underwood and a cool finish from Amber
Browne, and after this it was all Brandon, with Alex
Gristock in goal not having to make a save in the first half
and Browne hitting the post at the other end.
After the break Silfield came out and attacked Brandon from
the kick off, but Brandon continued to defend well and the
introduction of Liam Moffat and Jack Heyhoe saw Brandon
continue to play some good passing football, but lack the
finish. Browne again hit the post and Heyhoe went
close before Silfield equalised against the run of play.
With the game heading for a draw Silfield scored with a
brilliant shot to take all three points. For Brandon
this was a much better performance all round and with some
better luck they could have sealed their first win of the
season.

11 Brandon Lads 2
This week Brandon went to table-topping Swaffham
and started very nervously against a very strong and well
organised side. Brandon found themselves four goals
down in the first fifteen minutes, which could have been far
more if not for the good form of Jack Heyhoe in goal.
Brandon did make a reply, with a great solo effort from
Amber Browne just before the break.
After half time the home team again pressured Brandon, with
some sloppy defending putting the hosts five more goals
ahead. Casey Underwood shone for Brandfon with a goal
after some fine passing, but Swaffham scored two more before
the final whistle.

Lads 0 Thetford Town Youth 4
Following a close game the previous week Brandon
under-9 squad were in a confident mood for their clash
against Thetford Town Youth.
The game started entertainingly enough, with both
teams battling well and Brandon unlucky not to be a goal up
after Casey Underwood’s effort just crept wide.
Some good defending by Brandon’s Jake Welham, Liam
Moffat and Logan Maxwell kept the score level until Thetford
scored from an unfortunate penalty that was almost saved by
the impressive Jack Hayhoe.
In
the second half Brandon continued to work hard, with Amber
Brown and Casey Underwood working well together and they
were unlucky not to score on several occasions.
Thetford scored two brilliant goals from distance and
added a fourth late in the game.
Both substitutes, Gristock and Sanders, played very
well when they got into the game and all the team should be
proud of the way they have improved since the start of the
season.
