Brandon Lads
2 Stowmarket Town 2
The Lads played some of their best football all
season in an awesome game. Brandon took
the game to Stow and dominated the first half.
Efforts from Liam Hinsley and Sam Molyneux
were well saved before Dan Weekes scored a
brilliant goal from 25 yards. Tymal Mills
had a fine game in goal, pulling off three
athletic saves at the other end. Tom
Bullen, Nathan Irwin, Jordan Campbell and Ryan
Santer were all at the top of their game in
defence, allowing George Winstone and Matt
Barnes time in midfield to pass and move.
Ten minutes into the second half some great
passing put Danny in to hit his second goal for
2-0. Hinsley and Molyneux were running Stow's
defence ragged, with support from Joe Brookes
pushing up from the left wing. With ten minutes
to go Brandon started to tire at the back, Stow
scored against the run to set up an exciting
finish. Brandon defended deep but were
still caught out by a Stow equaliser with just
one minute to play. Man of the match, Liam
Hinsley, could have still won it for Brandon, a
great strike coming back off the post for a 2-2
final score.

Melton St
Audreys 5 Brandon Lads 1
A classic game of two halves, with Brandon
starting well and taking the lead after a fine
run and shot from Liam Hinsley. Tane Oian
made some superb saves for Brandon whilst the
'the Lads' attacks were mainly on the break.
Brandon, looking to stay 1-0 up at half
time, were then struck a cruel blow with Melton
equalising when the ball should have been
cleared.
A good first half team performance was then
thrown away within ten minutes of the
restart. Poor defending whilst sitting
too deep, Brandon found themselves 3-1
down. Melton were helped by two outrageous
penalty decisions, with Melton players diving
all over the box and with Brandon running
out of steam Melton scored twice more
before the finish for a 5-1 final score.

Thetford Independents 4
Brandon started defensively against top of the
league Thetford, attempting to hold firm in
midfield and catch Indies on the break.
This worked well until some fine passing and
cool finish put Thetford ahead. Brandon
had few chances but kept the score at 1-0 with
some good performances, in particular from
Tom Bullen and Matt Barnes. With only one
goal in it Brandon were more positive after the
break, yet more open at the back. Brandon
created a few chances for Mills, Molyneux and
Hinsley but superb defending from Indies kept the
scoring one way. I ndies passing, movement and
commitment was 1st class, with good team play
bringing Thetford three more excellent
goals before the final whistle.

0 Mildenhall Utd 2
Brandon threw away the chance of an end of
season K.O. Cup final with a poor first twenty
minutes against Mildenhall and finding
themselves 1-0 down to a scrappy own-goal
Brandon eventually started to play. Danny
Weekes had the best chance of an equaliser, with
another fine effort from Jamie Gristock.
Brandon were too often second to the ball,
failed to dominate midfield and needed to turn
things round in the second half.
Tom Bullen, Jordan Baynes and Josh Day were
strong in defence but it was at the other end
Brandon were ineffective. Joe Brookes and Sam
Molyneux worked well down the wings but real
chances were few. Tane Oian was untroubled
in the Brandon goal until the last minute, as
Brandon pressed a good Mildenhall break was
finished from close range for 2-0.
Congratulations to Mildenhall, with the boys
working hard for their Cup Final place in May.

Brandon Lads 1
Kelvedon Kestrels 4
Brandon started with positive attacking play
against last year's Felixstowe District League
Champions. Some good passing from Brandon
led to Tymal Mills putting pressure on
the Kestrels' keeper, then for Dan Weekes
to fire 'The Lads' into the lead with a great
long range effort. Sam Molyneux had an
excellent game, battling in right midfield
to keep the play going forward. Jamie
Gristock, recently moved into midfield for the
home team, was superb too, running himself
ragged to win the ball. The Lads looked
impressive, with Tane Oian making some great
saves to keep the lead secure. Brandon's
back four of Santer, Akenhead, Baynes and
Bullen looked focused and sharp but a fine wide
ball caught Brandon short with the Kestrels
levelling before half time.
Both teams came out to win after the break and
all was even in this end to end game for
over 20 minutes. Kelvedon Kestrels broke
the deadlock though as their passing improved,
leaving Brandon to chase an equaliser.
With time running down Kestrels hit an 'unsaveable' dipping
effort before a killer fourth. The Lads
can be proud of their attitude, play and work
rate.

Sicklesmere 4
Brandon Lads 2
Brandon started slowly and found
themselves with Tom Bullen, Josh Day and Ryan
Santer at the back having to defend bravely.
Brandon were breaking with speed and it was
not unexpected they took the lead, after some
fine passing from defence to attack with
finishing in style by Dan Weekes.
Sicklesmere hit back when a free kick was
converted, only for Brandon to finish the first
half the stronger, Jamie Gristock and George
Winstone doing well in midfield, and Sam
Molyneux and Joe Brookes superb on the wings.
Brandon re-started with great spirit, Tymal
Mills forcing his way through two defenders to
fire home for a 2-1 lead. Brandon now
looked to have control and came close with
further efforts on goal. Day brought down
a Sicklesmere forward though and although Tane
Oian saved the penalty, the rebound was tucked
in for 2-2. With six minuted left
Sicklesmere broke through to take the lead,
followed minutes later by a killer fourth goal.

Bergholt 0 Brandon Lads 2
With injuries and absences for Brandon an eleven
man squad put in an excellent performance from
the start. The whole Brandon team was on
form, with Tane Oian pulling off some great
saves in his best game yet. Tom Bullen
swept up firmly, with Ryan Santer and Josh Day
marking the Bergholt forwards out of the game.
Jamie Gristock, George Winstone and Jordan
Akenhead were excellent in midfield, with Jordan
being carried off injured on 25 minutes after a
brave tackle. Bergholt put some early
chances wide but it was Brandon who took
the lead. Winstone battled to play through
for Tymal Mills up front, Mills passed wide left
to Joe Brookes to run in and let go a superb
strike from twenty yards to beat the keeper.
Brandon held firm with ten men and reshuffled at
half time, Akenhead bravely came on to
hold-up the midfield, Sam Molyneux did a
fine job dropping to right back and Dan Weekes
ran his legs off as the sole striker. Brandon
continued to hit bergholt on the break, paying
off with Dan losing his defender and hitting a
fantastic second goal for Brandon from 25 yards
to leave the keeper stranded. A great
result for Brandon after a recent heavy defeat
against the same Bergholt team. This sees
the Lads in the semi finals on January 23rd
2005.

Brandon Lads 9
Brandon Lads started well, taking an
early lead through a powerful strike from Tymal
Mills. Right back, Jordan Baynes, fired
home from a fine Dan Weekes corner before
chipping in a great effort from outside the box
for a 3-0 lead. Weekes then turned from supplier
to goal-scorer, hitting a superb free kick into
the top of the net. Ryan Santer, Joe
Brookes and Jordan Akenhead all played some
great football at the back to stop the Haverbury
attacks. Liam Hinsley kept the goals coming with
a fine cut in from the right before beating the
keeper with his left foot. Mills fired
home his second as the Haverbury defence tried
to clear a free kick. Another quickly
taken free kick was then blasted home for
Mills hatrick. The final goal of the game
came from Sam Molyneux after some superb Brandon
passing. Molyneux took on the last man,
ran in on the advancing keeper and struck the
ball home to round up a 9-0 victory.

Brandon Lads
1 St. Louis 5
Some poor midfield play put the Brandon
defence under pressure and the Lads conceded an
early goal. Brandon responded well though,
doing most of the attacking over the next ten
minutes, yet were caught on the break for St.
Louis to hit a fine second goal. Akenhead
had a good game in defence and came close to
heading in from a long throw. Brandon
battled for a reply but their passing and moving
game had changed to hitting long balls in search
of a comeback. St. Louis were well
organised at the back, stopping efforts from
Mills, Weekes and Santer. Brandon fell
further behind, but will take some
consolation in their well worked goal.
Molyneux beat his man and ran to the left,
Santer overlapped and took the ball off his toes
before playing Mills in with a great pass.
Tymal Mills then scored his sixth goal in three
games, firing into the top of the net.
Sadly it was too little too late, although with
St. Louis deserved to take the points.

Needham
Phoenix 4 Brandon Lads 3
Brandon started slowly, yet still matched
Needham across the field. The Lads started
with a shuffled line up, welcoming back Josh Day
from a broken arm to start up front for the first
time.
After an even first half Brandon conceded an
unlucky goal. Keeper, Akenhead, failing
to hold onto the ball after a string of good
saves. Brandon were keen to come back quickly but
a panic in defence gifted Needham a second.
Needham scored again and saw a penalty well saved,
before going 4-0 up. With the game seemingly
lost the pressure lifted from Brandon's game and
the lads started to play. Winstone, Weekes,
Barnes and Brookes came alive and battled to win
in midfield. With nine minutes to go Tymal
Mills latched on to a lovely ball from Day, took
on the defence and fired home for Brandon. Minutes
later he sprinted onto a fine through ball, weaved
his way through and found the far corner for 4-2.
This lifted Brandon further and with time
running down Brandon went for it. To secure
a memorable hatrick, Mills went on another
powerful run and beat the keeper for 4-3.
Only the clock stopped draw from this fantastic
comeback, yet Brandon will rue gifting Needham
such a large cushion. Well done lads for the
good spirit shown.

Walsham 1
Brandon Lads started well at home to
Walsham with early chances falling to Dan Weekes
and Matt Barnes. 'The Lads' then took the
lead though with a fine strike from Tymal
Mills, following some good play from George
Winstone and Kyle Green in midfield. Tom
Bullen and Joe Brookes were solid in the centre of
defence with impressive performances also from
Ryan Santer and Jamie Gristock. Sam Molyneux
saw his fine shot slide just wide of the post
before scoring a second for Brandon from
close range. Jordan Akenhead, in goal, made
some tidy saves for Brandon before slotting into
defence for the second half. Walsham pulled
one back after a good save from Mills fell to the
speedy striker. Winstone finished the game
off with an amazing goal, playing the ball into
the box from half way for Santer to chase, yet
seeing the bounce take it past the keeper for 3-1.

Melton St Audreys 3
Brandon faced last year's league
champions with much to prove after two poor recent
games. The Lads went into the match with
great attitude and spirit, all putting in a mature
performance and they matched Melton man-for-man, playing
the better attacking football for most the half.
Melton took the lead though when a
speculative shot ran inside the post with Jordan
Akenhead beaten. Later, Tymal Mills sprinted
in to cut out a Melton backpass and brilliantly
found Sam Molyneux who shot just over the bar.
Brandon pressed in the second half and were worthy
of a draw after superb effort from George Winstone,
Dan Weekes, Matt Barnes and Joe Brookes across
midfield. Brandon's captain, Jordan
Baynes, had a great game along with Ryan Santer,
Jamie Gristock and Tom Bullen at the
back, so all Brandon needed was the equaliser.
Brandon pressured, forcing a run of corners but
failed to head home. With time running down
Melton played a ball through the middle, leaving
the speedy forward to chip the 'keeper.
Brandon Lads kept their heads up though, but lost
a third goal again after some heavy Brandon
pressure. Once the boys find the net the
goals will start to flow as their commitment was
100%.

Thetford
Independents 2
Brandon Lads 0
Brandon
expected a tough game and worked hard to defend
and counter attack. Indies put together some
good passing which was matched by the Brandon Lads
determination and running, although chances on
both goals were few, but Indies did score,
direct from a curled-in corner. Brandon's
new signings, Tom Bullen, Matt Barnes and Joe
Brookes all had superb games for Brandon, with Tom
coming close to an equaliser with his head after
Dan Weekes swung in a great corner. Dan then
struck an excellent shot himself, which was well
saved by the Indies 'keeper. Although Indies
continued to threaten the next goal was always
going to be crucial and Brandon had chances,
mainly from set pieces, but couldn’t hit the
back of the net. Eventually Indies finished
the game off with a rocket shot in off the
crossbar.

Brandon 0
Sicklesmere 4
A
bright start from Brandon saw the newly promoted
home team settle in to some fine attacking play.
‘The Lads’ matched Sicklesmere over the first
half and could have led after some good saves
denied Ryan Santer and Sam Molyneux. Tymal
Mills struck two good free kicks from just outside
the box but neither got the touch needed.
Brandon's captain, Josh Day, led his defence by
example and all at the back were in good form and
only a fine top corner strike from Sicklesmere
could open the scoring though before the break.
Brandon then pushed for an equaliser and both
George Winstone and Dan Weekes were unlucky not to
hit home after a scramble in the box.
Tane Oian had a superb second half in goal, with
Jordan Akenhead and Nathan Irwin fighting well
also to deny Sicklesmere further. Ben
Walters looked lively when he came on but there
was no luck for Brandon. Sicklesmere
eventually scored a second, quickly followed by
two more to deflate a good Brandon performance.
